Arrange a Visit | Parent Page | Summer School

I have very good memories from school. The first thing that comes to mind is the large and pretty garden with a big swimming pool in the middle. The snacks kiosk, the laboratory, the art room, where I spent most of the time, learned and had a lot of fun, and the main hall where we were taught drama. Really, the architectural space and the strange structure
and layout of the classrooms (if I’m not mistaken, before being a school, the buildings were residential bungalows) is something that made EIC a unique place that I remember as special and innovative.

When I arrived at EIC I didn’t speak any English at all, it was a very big change for me, but what I didn’t know then, was that learning another language and growing up with other cultures would be key in my professional life in the future.

My group of friends back then was made up of girls 6 different nationalities including mine (Spanish, Egyptian, Danish, Swedish, Australian, and Chilean). My friends’ houses were like small embassies where I could get to know part of their culture.

I remember with special affection the end-of-year parties when parents and tutors cooked typical dishes from their country of origin. There was dancing, performances, and prizes were awarded to the best athlete. One year I was selected to participate in the end-of-year show Awakenings. I remember that going to that casting was the same as when Alex Owens dances “What a feeling” in front of a jury in the 80’s movie Flashdance. My artistic career had began!

After school I went on to study a Fine Arts degree at the University of Granada in Spain, with a year at the University of Bologna in Italy. Later I completed my studies in graphic design in Ma?laga. Since then, I have worked for different studios and agencies as a graphic designer. Currently I work as a Graphic Specialist in the headquarters of a large multinational. Every day I connect with people from several countries, I am part of an international team, where I have colleagues from different nationalities such as Canada, China, Russia, England, Sweden, America, Portugal, or Spain. Without a doubt, a situation that is not new to me thanks to my experience at school.

Disclaimer:
Awakenings show happened in X’mas
Flashdance is not a great movie, but “What a feeling” from Irene Cara still rocks.
