What an amazing day we had on Wednesday; the weather could not have been kinder to us. After having to postpone the event by a week, thanks to Storm Gloria, we were delighted that the sun chose to come out and the conditions at the beach were absolutely perfect. The children have been working so hard in the lead up to this event, which was the first ever Primary International Schools Cross Country Competition. The morning running club sessions, after school fitness clubs and Inter House Cross Country day have all contributed to making this day a success and a platform on which to show off the children's hard work and dedication. They were a credit to both the school and themselves and as Miss Tracey confirmed, their behaviour and manners were exemplary.
As with any event of this size, it was very much a team effort and there are so many people that I wish to thank. Firstly, to La Plage Casanis who very kindly allowed us base ourselves and use the facilities at their beautiful beach chiringuito, we really could not have done it without you! Also to the Administration and Maintenance teams for organising everything from: the police, paramedics, packed lunches, parents, photography and PA system, you know who you are. To our pacemakers, Viktor, Gala and Daniel, you were amazing and went above and beyond what was asked of you. To our fantastic PTA, who encouraged, cajoled and looked after all the runners - we really do rely on you for events like these. Finally, to the children themselves, not just those children who were selected to run on the day, but to all of you. You have helped create an environment and ethos whereby you want to succeed and do well, you have pushed each other and given everything all along the way and as a school we could not be more proud of you.
Thank you EIC!
