On the evening of Tuesday 29th March, the Year 10 and 11 GCSE students and Year 12 A-Level students attended a performance of the Salón Varietés production of the Rodgers and Hammerstein's musical The Sound of Music.
With examination season approaching after Easter, this live performance would be vital to the written components of the syllabus and so armed with notepads and pens, they adopted their theatre critic caps and sat back to enjoy this household favourite that is responsible for an infamous Julie Andrews twirling on a famous hill at the foot of the Alps. Songs like “Edelweiss,” ”My Favourite Things,” “Climb Every Mountain,” “Do-Re-Mi,” “Sixteen Going on Seventeen,” “The Lonely Goatherd” and “The Sound of Music” are still timeless treasures that had several audience members joining in!
This musical has endured with its message of hope, finding joy and survival in the midst of very hard times. A message we could all still use in 2022.
A fantastic evening was had as we all enjoyed "The Happiest Sounds in all the World!"
