We continue to be on Cloud 9 and basking in the glory of the momentous success of our Under 11 Boys and Girls Football Teams, who both returned home from the Mediterranean Cup Tournament as Elite Gold Champions! This was the highest accolade that they could have achieved and it is a moment in the history of our school.
The 26 strong squad travelled with the goal of doing themselves, the school and their families proud. Success to them tasted of team work, reflection, pushing to be the best that they could and dealing with the inevitable highs and lows of the beautiful game.
Both teams surpassed everyone's expectations with neither of them losing a single match over the three days of play. A special mention must go to the boys who had to endure a semi-final and final which went to penalties - nail biting moments!
The girls finished up as Champions after beating H-Farm Rosa 1-0 with a spectacular goal by Stephi. The boys held onto a 1-1 score line against SLS Milan, thanks to Mateo, and finished up with a victorious penalty win.
Malaga Airport arrivals hall at 5.15pm on Sunday afternoon was a spectacle to behold. Our champions returned to unbelievable scenes of music, cheers, banners, balloons, hugs and high-fives as families welcomed back their own little heroes. It is a moment that will stay in the hearts and minds of all who were there for many years to come.
We have been attending the Mediterranean Cup since 2010 and were the first school on the Costa Del Sol to give their students the opportunity to participate in this great international tournament. In our 40th Year, to have returned with two first place trophies really has been the icing on the cake!
