This week, students from Year Six have begun to support Year Two with their reading at playtime. Each day, a different group of Year Six students are paired with children from Year Two to listen to them read. After a briefing from Miss Sophie and Miss Nicola, Year Six now know how to support the younger children with their reading and ask pertinent questions; they can even write positive feedback in their reading log books.
This collaboration provides a fantastic opportunity to integrate the older and younger children, where the older students can become positive role-models. It also allows the Year Two children to read with even greater regularity and to a variety of different people. All of the students involved have found this to be a positive and fun experience.
