The theme of the COBIS Poetry Competition this year was 'Who Am I?' and the title allowed students to create their own voice, rhythm and thoughts. We were delighted to receive many entries from Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3 and judging was very difficult. When the results were announced, Katya in Year 5 came runner-up in the Key Stage 1 and 2 category and was awarded a certificate, an Amazon voucher and was asked to record her poem for social media. She also received this letter from Cobis:
On behalf of COBIS, I’d like to congratulate you on achieving the runner-up position in the Key Stage 1-2 category of this year’s COBIS Poetry Competition. We received 240 entries from 142 schools worldwide, so this really is a fantastic achievement. You demonstrated exceptional talent, and we are delighted to have published your poem on our website for others to enjoy.
The competition guest judge, Ali Al-Jamri, was very complimentary about your poem and left you the following comment:
“There is a wonderful variety in the animal metaphors. The rhymes are fun and the word choices are very effective.”
Many congratulations, Katya, we look forward to receiving more poetry entries in the future!
