On Thursday 9th March, The EIC celebrated its own version of World Book Day 2023.
As well as celebrating our love of books and reading, we took this day to celebrate WORDS. Students in Primary and Secondary were invited to dress up as a word of their choice. What a plethora of words there were on display! From 'Constellation' to 'Chequered' to 'Reminiscing' to 'Corrupted'. From 'Undecided' to 'Love'' to 'Humorous' to 'Birthday' and so many more; it was clear to see that the students and teachers had been creative with their vocabulary.
Throughout the day a variety of activities took place. The day started with Primary sharing all their words with a celebratory assembly. During their English lessons, children used their words collectively to write creative and imaginary stories. In the afternoon Year 10 and 11 students spent time with EYFS and KS1, sharing books and reading stories together. KS2 and KS3 came together to take part in an online EIC World Book Day Quiz, sharing their knowledge of books.
The EIC World Book Day allowed our students, both young and old, to visit the wonderful, magical and unique world of the written word, as we celebrated a love of books, new vocabulary and reading.
