We were thrilled that after a four year hiatus, the Primary Christmas Shows returned with a bang! Parents, friends and family of The EIC were treated to a morning, or afternoon, filled with captivating performances and unforgettable moments. Taking place in our recently renovated theatre, the stage came alive with tales that transported us to distant lands, emotions that resonated within our hearts, and melodies that we have all been singing for weeks on end!
Our Infant students took us on a journey entitled, "An Out of this World Christmas." Some suspicious looking aliens (Year 1) went on a journey to find out about Christmas! They encountered some strange planet called Earth, and here came across the cutest Snowmen you ever did see (Early Years), and some very hard-working Elves (Reception). Never before have so many children of this age, in an EIC Christmas show, delivered so many lines, danced or sang! It was so incredibly adorable and heart-warming and was everything that Christmas should be.
Lower and Upper Primary students took their audience "Back to the Future" for an original EIC production that saw three familiar students, Ricardo (Mr Sutcliffe), Harri (Miss Harriet) and Petra (Mr Willis) travel back to 1982 on a magical sleigh! They met with Maria and Josef, who were having some trouble getting to Marbella for the wedding of their dreams. From ski instructors in Sierra Nevada (Year 2) through to Donald the talking donkey, this show really had it all. Under the musical direction of Mr Tommy, children sang and danced to some classic Christmas hits, and a few from the Christmas film, 'Nativity.' The show finished with a wonderful rendition of some traditional Spanish songs, and a moving version of Liam Gallagher's, "All You're Dreaming Of."
My Christmas wish definitely came true, and early this year, as all I wanted for Christmas was the Primary Christmas shows back! We delved into a magical realm of storytelling and saw sheer brilliance unfolding before our eyes.
I am so proud of every single student and teacher involved - you are the real spirit of Christmas!
Thank you everyone for a wonderful two days of "Sparkle and Shine!"
Merry Christmas to all, and to all, Happy Holidays!
Miss Harriet
