During the second half of the Spring Term, our focus in KS3 PE lessons was on volleyball and athletics. In a short space of time, the skill development of our students has been remarkable, and we were delighted to be able to take 52 students from Years 7, 8, and 9 to a volleyball tournament hosted by Sunnyview School in Torremolinos.
The standard of volleyball at the tournament was very high, and our students experienced some very competitive rallies with some extremely close matches. Our U12 boys, U14 boys, and U14 girls A teams all won the group stages, progressing to the semi-finals along with our U12 Boys B team, U12 Girls B team, and the U14 Girls B team.
The U12 Boys A, U14 Girls A, and U14 Girls B teams all won their respective semi-finals, with the U14 Girls setting up an all-EIC final!
Congratulations to the U14 Girls A team for winning their final, and to the Girls B team for their second place. Congratulations also to the second-placed U12 Boys team who lost in an extra-time playoff after their final finished in a draw.
Overall, our students had a fantastic day, with many of them experiencing competitive volleyball for the first time. Our aim as a department is to continue to grow interest and participation in this inclusive sport, and we will be running an inter-house competition during the Summer Term... Watch this space!
