“We don’t live alone. We are members of one body. We are responsible for each other” - Inspector Goole.
On Thursday 16th May, the Year 10 GCSE Drama students attended a performance of the classic play; An Inspector Calls at the Salón Varietés Theatre in Fuengirola. A single evening, a mysterious visitor and a family with secrets sets the scene for this gripping intense and intriguing thriller. It was a wonderful opportunity for them to see their examination play text brought to life and to see how J.B.Priestley’s words could be brought from page to stage via a range of performance skills and production elements. With a high standard of naturalistic acting bringing the story to life, this was a great experience for them to see how the use of a simple set, costume and lighting elements can still create the desired effect. With the modern influence of the virtual world and technology, the performance clearly showed that sometimes going back to basics can be more engaging and refreshing to see, especially with a play that is almost 80 years old yet its message still remains just as relevant today. A great evening was had by all!
