One of the greatest advantages of our school’s location is its proximity to some truly remarkable natural resources. We are fortunate to be situated on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea, just a stone’s throw from the picturesque Campo hills, and only a couple of hours away from the stunning Sierra Nevada mountains. At the peak of these mountains lies the C.A.R. high-altitude training facility, a world-class centre typically reserved for professional athletes competing at the international level.
Our Year 10 and 11 IGCSE PE students had the unique opportunity not only to train alongside some of these elite athletes but also to use the cutting-edge facilities. During their visit, they explored the Sports Science laboratories, gaining insight into the benefits of altitude training and the rigorous testing procedures conducted there. Additionally, they learned about the critical role of athlete nutrition and the importance of nutritional timing, while enjoying meals specifically prepared on-site to meet the needs of high-performance athletes.
