To organize a quiz for Key Stage 4, we sought students with broad general knowledge, not just academic prowess. We designed a Kahoot challenge with 60 questions on various topics like fashion, geology, and literature. Example questions included:
Which Italian fashion house has a logo inspired by the gorgon Medusa? (Versace)
The extinction of the dinosaurs occurred at the end of which geological period? (Cretaceous)
In Shakespeare’s Henry V, what does the king call his troops? (Band of Brothers)
Four students from each tutor group competed in a University Challenge-style quiz, with questions from subjects like Mathematics, Drama, and Computing, plus general knowledge on pop culture and more.
The competition pitted Year 10 against Year 10 and Year 11 against Year 11, with Mr. Hogan and Mr. Howarth's groups winning their respective year groups. The final in the Exam Hall included picture and music rounds, chaired by Mr Howarth and Mr Woolacott. After a tense battle, Year 11's Ian, Oscar, Gabriella, and Imrie triumphed over Year 10's Chase, Maissa, Sebastian and Jimmy.
