Foundation Stage had a wonderful time at the Food Room!

Foundation Stage had a wonderful time at the Food Room!

Upon arrival, we immediately got started with making pasta—the children hand-mixed flour and egg to create pasta dough and had fun rolling and squishing it while kneading.

While the pasta dough rested, we made banana bread: they learned to mash bananas, mix them with egg and sugar, then combine them with flour before adding milk and whisking it all together by hand. The best part for everyone was tasting the chocolate chips that were added at the end.
After that, there was a tasting session featuring a variety of vegetables and fruits, and it was lovely to see all the children trying everything they were offered, including carrot, avocado, mango, and pineapple, to name just a few.

Finally, it was time to make spaghetti, and everyone watched as the pasta maker rolled the dough flat before passing it through the cutter. Each child had some homemade spaghetti to feel, touch, and stretch! It was wonderful to see so many children with wide eyes as they watched spaghetti "happen" right before them!

We then enjoyed the results of our preparations with a delicious lunch of lasagne, followed by homemade chocolate-chip banana loaf for dessert.
We arrived back in time for a lovely playtime before continuing with our afternoon lessons.
The children were exceptionally well-behaved, a true credit to the EiC, and we’re immensely proud of them.
